Street Talk – Conway Street, Mowbray

Named after the architect and subdivider Harry Conway, who with Mr S C Sadler in 1882 developed the area on the east side of Invermay Road on Mowbray Hill.

Conway was elected to the House of Assembly for George Town in 1886. Conway lived in his latter years at ‘Cooinda’, 7 St George’s Square, Launceston and was the architect for the Masonic Hall in Brisbane Street, Launceston.
